The windows operating system maker, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), is all set to launch a Smartwatch in the next few weeks. The gadget is likely to target health conscious customers with features to track heart rate and the device is going to work seamlessly with different mobile platforms. Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) launched its Smartwatch last month and it is likely to hit the market next year.
Experts might call it a response from the Windows maker hinting that it is not willing to play underdog in the Smart devices market. According to Forbes, the device would have a battery life of 2-days, which would easily put it in front of Samsung’s Galaxy Gear that requires daily charging. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is likely to offer this watch in the holiday sale season, which means it will be available in the market within a few weeks.
According to the estimates, wearable device industry is likely to touch up to $7.1 billion in 2015 and considering the relatively fewer players in the market, this is an excellent opportunity for Microsoft. The upside of Microsoft’s Smartwatch would be its compatibility with multiple platforms unlike the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s watch, which works only with iOS. The longer battery life gives the windows maker an addition edge over Samsung Galaxy Gear and Moto 360 from Motorola.
The new Smartwatch from Microsoft might be considered its first step in the healthcare industry and the company might offer more wearable products in future with connection to its cloud-based services, hence offering cost effective healthcare solutions.
Earlier, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) released Windows 10 and the company is said to have registered over 1 million users for the technical preview. The company offered free downloads under the technical preview and is said to have received up to 200,000 feedback emails to further improve its system.
