Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) is all set to launch its next generation iPhone 6 with two bigger screen versions. However, the company is facing a difficult time in getting sufficient supply of screens for its latest Smartphone. It is not certain whether this short-time supply-crisis will affect the launch of iPhone 6 or limit availability.
According to the supply chain sources, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has asked for a revision in the backlight, which is responsible for illuminating the screen. Apple has been trying to develop the sleekest phone available in the market and it requires an even thinner screen. However, the one-layer screen proposed for the model could not offer sufficient light and that is why Apple has asked for a revision. The screens were not bright enough to match the product quality standards of Apple. This revision has even affected assembly operations waiting for screen supply.
As per the speculations, Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) might launch iPhone6 on a media event planned on September 9, 2014. The company will offer two different versions of the phone with 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen. The company is using sapphire screen in its 5.5-inch version of the phone. Sapphire screen is the surprise component of this bigger model and it is scratch resistant, although the sapphire screen will cost Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) $16 per unit instead of $3 for the earlier Gorilla Glass screen.
