Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has attracted dozens of privacy lawsuits in the last few years and this time, the search engine giant is under a legal dispute with former motor racing chief Max Mosley. Mosley filed a case in London High Court accusing the search engine giant of showing images of him in a sex party. The search engine company is not looking for a legal battle and is trying to block the lawsuit.
According to Mosley, Google has breached his fundamental rights of privacy by listing the images in search results. On the contrary, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is trying to avoid any legal obligation that puts it responsible for the flow of data on Internet. Max Mosley came under limelight after he filed a case on Defunct News for publishing his name for participating in a Nazi themed party and won settlements of $91,290. From that case onward, Mosley has always fought for privacy rights and against media intrusion.
Mosley filed a case on Google’s local subsidiary and the company itself in July last year asking the same to prevent users from accessing the images. In its defense, Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) said that it has removed images as per the indication of Mosley. However, the company is not ready to monitor image searches with a filter, as that might require the company to monitor the internet itself.
The company further said that considering the time for which these images have been available online, there are hardly any realistic prospects of saving privacy with the lawsuit. This is not the first time when Google is fighting against Max Mosley, as the later has already won cases against the search engine company in France and Germany.
The shares of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) touched $507.99 in the extended trading sessions. The search engine giant said that it is likely to launch its autonomous self-driving car within the next five years.
