The iPhone maker, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), is likely to use an advanced A9 chip for its next generation of iPhone devices. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005930) is the company manufacturing A9 chips in the Austin plant with the first chips ready to enter the iPhone production lines.
The customers and market alike know Apple for producing something unexpected and innovative. The iPad maker pretty much changed the world with its iPod allowing people to carry all the music they loved in their pockets. The latest iPhone 6 from the company are very well received because of the higher processing quality and superior performance of the device. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is once again ready to up the game with its A9 chips, although the company has not disclosed the planned usage of the chip.
The use of A9 chip is certainly to help the financial performance of Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005930)’s semiconductor business. The company is using its 14nm manufacturing process and the initial trial chips will showcase FinFET technology. Further, this is not the first time when Samsung would be working on Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s chips, as it already manufactured low power ARM processors for the iPhone maker.
According to experts, it is a step that will help Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) bring chip-manufacturing to the United States considering the Austin plant of Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005930). Some of the recent rumors have confirmed that it was Samsung that manufactured nearly 40% of the A8 chips for the iPad maker. A8 chips are known for their energy efficiency and better processing qualities.
The shares of Apple are trading at $109.73 with 36.91% year-to-date growth and it is likely to be first company to reach $1 trillion market capitalization mark in the upcoming years. The iPad maker has a current market cap of $643.55 billion.
