This has been a busy year for Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) as the retailer launched new Smartphone, tablet, and grocery services. The latest addition to its innovative product list is a web-connected speaker that the user can talk with and give commands.
Amazon has launched its latest product in the market, Amazon Echo, with the ability to take and process command, answer questions, play music from web, and create shopping lists. Users can start the speaker with a single word “Alexa” and the speaker would start taking commands. As mentioned on the Amazon Echo website, users can give commands including “Will it rain tomorrow,” “Add make hotel reservations to my to-do list,” and “Play music by Bruno mars.”
This compact small wonder device from Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) comes with seven microphones and deploys beam-forming technique to capture voice commands from any direction. Amazon Echo is connected with Amazon Web Services and it keeps on learning the voice pattern of the user. The user can play music from Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn. It is Bluetooth enabled and the retailer has launched subsequent applications for Android and iOS devices.
Amazon Echo is available on invitation basis only and it comes with a price tag of $199 or $99 for Amazon Prime members.
One thing is clear that Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is not going to lag behind when it comes to smart and innovative devices in the market. The company launched Amazon Fire TV stick last month for $39 with the ability to broadcast videos from most of the online video streaming resources including Hulu, Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX), Spotify, Pandora, and Amazon video library.
Further, the retailer acquired Rooftop Media, comedy channel that shows live performances from artists throughout the country. The company is working on its product lineup while ensuring firm footing in the digital content industry.
