Automotive sector has once again stolen the limelight where technology developments are concerned and this time to move is geared towards introducing software packages meant to improve driving experience. Particularly under the scanner is Mobileye NV (NYSE:MBLY), a technological company that specializes in ADAS, meaning Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. While most financial experts have labeled Mobileye NV (NYSE:MBLY)’s performance in the financial markets as being bullish, an analyst at Robert W Baird, David Leiker, has projected it as being bearish.
On being questioned by CNBC, he based his stance on several reasons, the foremost being the pace with which the new and innovative driverless technology will adopted by the industry and end-users. While driverless vision is indeed the future that this segment is headed towards, the time-frame in which it can be translated into reality is an aspect that remains to be seen. Of course, there are risk factors involved in case of Mobileye NV (NYSE:MBLY) too wherein all the ICU chips utilized by this company are manufactured at a single facility.
That said, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has expressed its support for Distracted Driving Software wherein the device will keep track of the driver’s head and his eyes and emit a warning in case there is even a little bit of distraction.
More recently, General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) is believed to fit its vehicles with eye-tracking technology which it intends to install in all units within the next 3-5 years. Manufactured by Seeing Machine Limited, this gadget marks the arrival of next wave of in-car driving technology in the words of Phil LeBeau of CNBC. So whatever the driver might be doing while driving, even if he just as much as removes his eyes or attention off the road for a second, there will be an instant warning.
In light of the statistics that one out of every ten fatal accidents in USA is attributed to distraction, this technology is bound to be a blessing wherein the car will communicate to the driver and ensure alertness. General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) succeeds in presenting its drive for improvement by supporting and incorporating it.
