Although doctors around the world have the same job, medical degrees vary significantly in different countries. In addition to that, language can be a barrier to finding your dream job elsewhere. Due to the differences in curricula around the world, different countries might require additional education or tests in order to be eligible for a job in that country. Insider Monkey staff compiled a list of 10 countries accepting Indian medical degrees and ranked them according to median annual salary for general practitioners.  Of course, salaries are often the most important factor when choosing where to migrate in search for better job offerings. However, a lot depends on your qualifications and your previous experience. General practitioners have lower salaries than specialists and consultants. On the other hand, if you want to advance in your career you will always have a choice to do so and your salary will increase accordingly.

Best countries for Indian doctors to migrate to depend on their preferences as well as how easily they can get working permit and visa for the target country. Although the prize (read better salary and living conditions) is worth the effort, the process of going through all the paperwork can be a very long and demanding process. Getting licensed to practice medicine can include passing additional (and often hard) exams before you can start earning money with your profession. Don’t be discouraged but make sure to be realistic and plan your transition to a new country. How hard or easy it will be, depends largely on where you wish to go. If there is a shortage of medical workers in that country, your chances of getting accepted are immediately higher. Many persons immediately look up countries like the USA, UK, Australia or Canada which have a really good health care system. Salaries in these countries are very high and since these are English-speaking countries, migrating to these countries is easier due to the lack of language barrier. Still, remember that there are many doctors educated in those countries which might have an advantage over foreigners. But, if you don’t try you will never know what could have happened.
