What came as a surprise to the users and investors is the name of the latest Windows operating system launched by Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) i.e. Irrespective of the name of the latest version of Windows, there is a lot that users can expect from Windows including split-screen feature, customizable start menu, advanced search feature, and a geeky appearance.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) later said that name was chosen after a thorough thought and survey process carried out among focus groups and customers. The latest operating system will not be available until 2015 for both consumers as well as businesses. In its announcement, Microsoft indicated a unified approach in its latest OS indicating that it will run smoothly on a wide range of devices including tablets, phones, and PCs. The company would try to establish a similar framework over all Window devices.
After being criticized for removing the Start button from Windows 8, the company reintroduced the Start button with the familiar taskbar appearance except for the fact that users would be able to add their favorite apps in the menu. The company is introducing an app store much similar to that of Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s app store with the ability to switch between different user devices.
Search feature is another exciting addition to Windows 10, which would allow customers to get search results not only from their devices but also from web and Microsoft’s cloud-based services. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is desperate to put behind the failure of Windows 8 and Windows 10 is rather a true successor of Windows 7, as said by the company. This OS would club together the classic functionality of Windows with the latest metro UI experience. The company has emphasized its focus on corporate users and Windows 10 would allow customers to run up to four programs in the same screen, hence increasing its utility.
