Both Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) are ready to extend their employees benefits to get the top IT talent. In their latest offering, both the tech giants are ready to pay female employees for freezing their eggs, hence increasing their perks and benefits funding to hire the top talent.
Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) will start the program from January next year under which the company would pay female employees, both part-time and full-time, up to $20,000 for this procedure and associated storage cost for their eggs.
The iPhone-maker said in a statement, “We continue to expand our benefits for women, with a new extended maternity leave policy, along with cryopreservation and egg storage as part of our extensive support for infertility treatments. We want to empower women at Apple to do the best work of their lives as they care for loved ones and raise their families.”
Another tech giant Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) started covering egg freezing benefits for women employees, even for non-medical reasons, from January itself primarily because of requests from the employees and associated reasons. An egg freezing procedure costs around $10,000 and up to $500 for annual storage facility.
In order to get their hands at the best talent, the Silicon Valley companies are certainly doing a commendable job by extending their family benefit program. Apple earlier said that the company reimburses legal cost of adopting a child by its employees. Both Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) offer extended parental leave for new parents and in case of Facebook, it involves up to four months of paid leave for new parents.
At the same time, these discussions have gone viral on social media where experts are even suggesting a more balanced work culture that could allow new parents to settle down easily.
